The puppy opened her eyes and stared around blearily. She was in between two walls, with a metal gate in front of her, and straw beneath her feet. She tottered forwards and stuck her muzzle through one of the gaps in the gate. It was dark and cold, and the place gave the feeling of danger and despair. "Where am I?" she whined urgently. Another animal from across the hallway walked towards her, and stuck his snout through the gate. He barked twice, then put a paw on a button on the wall in his cage. A grey she-wolf lay in a small clearing in a dense forest. A pillar of sunlight shone down onto her, warming the fur on her back. She stretched out her legs and flexed her claws, taking in a deep breath. Her forest home was a peaceful, tranquil place she loved to spend time in.
